In Search of the Perfect Naicha
Tuesday, May 01, 2012Wintermelon is actually "kundol" while taro is actually "gabi". These are some of the things you'll learn if you are a noob in the milk tea craze. Rad and I love to watch movies and everytime we go to the cinemas we make sure to sip on a refreshing naicha (Chinese word which means "tea with milk").
We've tasted a lot of Milk Tea from different stores:
1. Bubbatealicious at MOA - as far as I can remember, we didn't like the taste.
2. Pao Pao Xiao Chi Milk Tea in Robinson's Forum - I bought once during lunch break, the only milk tea available in Forum.
3. Chatime at Pioneer Center, MOA and SM North Edsa - Chatime's Pearl Milk Tea is classic! It is our ever favorite. Large size costs Php 90.00. We love the concept of giving customers an RF device which lights up and vibrates when your order is ready. We also enjoyed their tambayan setup, playing with the colors of pink and purple on their couches. The branch in Pioneer Center is the biggest one I've seen. There's a second floor where you can hang-out with friends, read a book and write a blog.
4. Happy Lemon at SM Megamall - We became curious with what is so special about their milk tea because there's always a long queue of buyers in Trinoma branch. When we saw the newly opened branch in Megamall, we attempted to buy their Milk Tea with Pudding. It is delicious but we didn't like the sandy feel on the throat which make us cough.
5. Gong Cha at SM Megamall - Since Wintermelon Milk Tea is one of their best sellers, I've decided to taste one. For a sweet-lover like me, it tastes bland compared to Pearl Milk Tea but the coolest thing about it is the kundol aftertaste.
Here are some of our photos taken at GongCha in SM Megamall (kinda hurry, movie's gonna start in a few minutes!!!)
